Community Health and Wellness
Healthy Living for Seniors A program for residents of Capital Towers, Glenwood Towers
and Carriage House that includes regular site visits by a community health nurse, blood pressure monitoring and health education.
Social Events Seasonal theme parties and social events are held throughout
the year for older adults and residents of the Glenwood South community. Group
Activities Groups meet at Saint Saviour's
Center for special interests and support, including a walking club, community garden club, knitting/crochet circle...and more. Organizations at Saint Saviour's
Meals on Wheels Provides a healthy noon meal to low-income seniors,
Monday through Friday.
Wake Relief Provides emergency food for families facing crises
such as loss of employment, illness and financial hardship. Families receive a week's supply of free groceries.
Wake Technical Community College English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Instructors from Wake Tech teach English and Basic Life-Skills
to adults whose first language is not English.
Citizenship
Classes - In
partnership with Lutheran Family Services and the ESL classes, students prepare for the naturalization examination.
